Project Alloy, Intel's bet on virtual reality
The prototype, only for developers at the moment, works without a computer or mobile
The commitment of Facebook and Google among others for the virtual reality has caused that the technological sector have devoted a great part of their efforts to present new proposals to lead this new 'virtual' career,
The last one to join the battle has been Intel with the presentation of a new concept of virtual reality that does not need a computer or mobile phone to function and that aims to create a "mixed reality".
The multinational has presented at IDF, the annual appointment of developers in San Francisco, Project Alloy. It is a helmet that is based on immersion without any other additional device, except with the hands, which serve to move within the created reality.
The helmet includes a great power and everything necessary to carry out the experience: chips, batteries or sensors, among others.
It is still only a prototype and Intel says in its blog that it does not intend to market it, but use this technology for the creation of products by manufacturers. Intel is collaborating with Microsoft to optimize the content and experiences of the helmet on Windows using Alloy.
In addition, Intel will open during the next year open hardware so that developers can create their own products used from the design of Alloy.
