Vodafone and Orange, the best companies in Spain

The average speed of download in Madrid is faster than in other capitals of the world

   Vodafone and Orange move away from Movistar as the best mobile phone companies in Spain in the first half of the year, according to the consultancy RootMetrics Spain.

In this new report, Rootmetrics has analyzed the networks of a total of six Spanish cities. To the usual cities of previous works (Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia), on this occasion Bilbao, Málaga and Záragoza have joined.

   With the taking of 98,977 samples, Vodafone and Orange have improved considerably in most categories analyzed, leaving in third place with some advantage to the company chaired by José María Álvarez-Pallete. In fourth position, Yoigo.

Compared to the data from last year, Orange improved a lot in Barcelona and Madrid and achieved the first place in the six categories (data, network reliability, calls, speed text messages and general performance). Movistar by saw how their rivals distance themselves in the different categories.

To evaluate the quality of the networks of the four operators, RootMetrics buys phones from the different telephone companies and installs a mobile application that reproduces the usual use of a mobile phone.

More than 100,000 calls, data and text messages both day and night during the first half of 2016. With mobile phones bought in the stores of the operators themselves, the tests were carried out in interiors of more than 200 different places, in outdoor areas and over more than 6,000 kilometers are the steps prior to the study of Rootmetrics.

High speed in Spain

One of the conclusions of the Rootscore report is the Spanish leadership in download speed with the surrounding countries. During the analysis, Vodafone registered an average download of 44.6 Mbps.

With this speed, Madrid is ranked as the second city in the world in the ranking of downloads speed. The city of Madrid is only surpassed by Seoul (South Korea).

The Spanish capital thus exceeds villas such as London, Paris or New York.
